Coronavirus (COVID-19) Advice
We all find ourselves in an unprecedented situation and I, like every individual and business, am making as many preparations as possible to protect my students following the current Covid-19 guidelines.
The Government's latest update means there are no mandatory requirements to close; I therefore plan to keep teaching until such a ban is put in place. However, we must all be vigilant regarding our own health and hygiene, and responsible for ourselves and others around us.
With this in mind, please cancel your lesson if you aren't feeling well or are displaying any symptoms of the Coronavirus. Due to the current circumstances, you will not forfeit your deposit if less than 24 hours is given.
Like everyone else, I am currently undertaking an increased cleaning regime with an anti viral approach to areas where hands are touching regularly.
Currently the Government are advising you to stay at home for 14 days if you, or anyone in your household, have either:
A high temperature
A new, continuous cough
Please take all the necessary steps to cancel your lesson if you have any of these symptoms, or are in any way concerned.
How much do you charge?
30 Minutes - £21
60 Minutes - £35
How do I book a lesson?
You can contact me by email: [email protected] or you can call me directly on 07899 992886
What ages do you teach?
I teach students from 5 years old and upwards.
Do you teach grades?
Yes, I have a 100% pass record with both Rockschool and Trinity syllabus's with 98% of my students having achieved either a merit or a distinction. Grades are not mandatory and can be taught upon request. Please click the following links to better understand Rockschool and Trinity gradings.
I have never played an instrument before, do I need any experience?
No, absolute beginners are welcome and all levels of ability are catered for.
Do I need experience reading music?
No, all the skills you will need to develop in order to become an effective reader are covered in lessons
How do I pay?
I accept cash, bank transfer or cheque.
What equipment do I need to bring to a lesson?
No equipment is required, there are always two drum kits setup at all times and sticks can be provided for the session
Do I need my own Drum Kit right away?
No, a drum kit is not required immediately and there is a lot that can be achieved in the early stages of learning to play with minimal outlay. Longterm it is important to have a means to practice properly and to this end I can help you with the selection of a kit to meet your requirements (either acoustic or electronic depending on noise restrictions) - please feel free to drop me a line if you need some guidance.
Can I choose the songs that I want to learn?
Yes, however it is important to recognise that many songs can be trickier to play than they sound and from experience it can take a while to build the skill set to deliver an authentic performance. I am happy to build a plan to enable you to take the steps to make this happen and for you to study the music that you love.
Can I buy lessons as a gift?
Yes, I provide bespoke printable vouchers that can include a personalised message for the recipient so that they can arrange the lesson with me at their convenience.
How many lessons should I take?
I offer weekly, bi-weekly and monthly sessions - it is completely up to you and if you would prefer to have ad-hoc lessons as and when you require them then this is not a problem. If you would like more frequent lessons this can also be catered for.
When do you teach?
I teach Mondays - Fridays from 9:00am to 9:30pm - weekend lessons can also be discussed.
What is your cancellation policy?
I require strictly 24 hours notice for a lesson cancellation. If less than this notice is given then I would need to retain your deposit to cover the session. If 24 hours notice is given there is no penalty.
Do you do home visits?
Yes I do, but you must have your own equipment. An additional £5 charge on top of the lesson fee will be made for home visits. Home visits are also popular for students who want help setting up new equipment or need help tuning and maintaining their equipment.
Do you teach in schools?
Yes, I provide peripatetic lessons in schools and have experience working as a teaching assistant supporting students with GCSE, A-Level and BTEC music qualifications. I currently teach peripatetic drum lessons at Stantonbury Campus.
